I was unhooked from chemo one week ago and the first couple days were actually easier than the previous rounds. I was able to get out on Saturday and then all of a sudden on Sunday for some reason I started to feel really sick. I have gone this far without any of the mouth sores caused by chemo so I thought I was in the clear. I love when they check my mouth at Roswell and are surprised to find nothing. Well, I guess I wasnt able to get through this without; however the sores arent in my mouth. I have a couple in my throat which is absolutely unbearable. I can barely drink water because I cant really swallow. I went to Roswell today and they told me my white blood cell count is so low they cant really even give me a count which explains the sores. Chris had bought a ton of nutritional supplements when I was first diagnosed, thinking it would be difficult for me to eat at times. Ive gone this far without drinking any of them which I think is pretty good. Im glad I have them now. The nurse told me that sometimes these sores can go down the esophagus and even into the stomach. Luckily they have medicine that helps to numb everything which Im waiting on now. Definitely by far the worst side effect yet because I really love to eat. I also was one of the few who never lost their taste buds… thank God. Well I guess Im cooped up in the house until my counts are up. Usually by Friday they are better so hoping for the best. Hope everyone is doing well and cant wait to see people I havent seen in awhile at the benefit!
